FORS MW is an Estonian manufacturing company with a long-standing history of producing high-quality forestry machinery and heavy-duty equipment. Established in Estonia in 1992, the company has grown over more than three decades into a significant international player with around 250 dealers worldwide.

Procurement Expertise in a Time of Need

The collaboration between FORS MW and ValueSource Baltics began in the spring of 2025, when the industrial company needed additional resources for tactical procurement tasks due to its staff’s full workload.

An interim procurement expert was especially needed in situations requiring rapid and efficient market research and supplier comparisons. The need focused on various technical components designed by FORS MW’s own engineering team.

The first contact with the procurement organization was made when FORS MW’s CEO Mrs. Ulrica Forsreceived an introductory email from ValueSource – which sparked the idea of utilizing external expertise to support procurement.

Focus on RFQs and Supplier Search

ValueSource Baltics was able to provide an interim expert who quickly engaged in practical RFQ processes and supplier searches.

The RFQ and supplier search projects mapped the market for the following FORS MW product groups:

  • Crane axles
  • Crane boom welded assemblies
  • Customized cast steel components
  • Dumper trailer dipping container units
  • Hooklift container units

These studies identified potential new suppliers and their pricing, which were compared with FORS MW’s existing solutions.

Results and Lessons Learned

The most important result was a wide picture of market price levels and the supplier landscape, including possible new alternatives. At the same time, it was confirmed that FORS MW’s existing suppliers and in-house production were often competitively priced.

”While our initial collaboration with ValueSource Baltics confirmed the competitiveness of our existing suppliers and in-house production, we anticipate the potential for additional cost savings as the project progresses. We are optimistic that the new outsourcing partners identified by ValueSource Baltics will offer opportunities to further optimize our costs and improve our bottom line”, Fors observes.

Using an interim expert brought several benefits to FORS MW’s procurement process:

  • Market insights: Confirmation of the competitiveness of current pricing, along with new ideas to support product development. The RFQ results proved that further standardization and unification of product construction parts are recommended to gain a competitive advantage.
  • Flexibility: External procurement expertise enabled fast reactions and additional resources in a demanding situation.
  • Professional process: RFQs were carried out in a structured and documented manner, allowing clear comparison of received quotes and strengthening credibility and reliability of the results.
  • Local collaboration: Work was conducted smoothly in both Estonian and English, which supported communication and trust-building with the suppliers and within the company.

Professional Support When Resources Are Stretched

Thanks to ValueSource’s extensive supplier register, the RFQ preparation phases were notably fast. All work was carried out smoothly and confidentially under FORS MW’s name and in terms of FORS MW’s own NDA.

The collaboration can also be seen as an important milestone for ValueSource: the FORS MW project was the first Estonian customer reference, laying the groundwork for new clients and projects in the Baltic region.
